Many people come to counselling when life feels overwhelming, confusing or difficult to manage alone. You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, addiction, low self-esteem or adjusting to changes such as disability or sight loss.
Talking to someone who listens without judgement can help you begin to make sense of what you are going through.
Hello, I'm Paula, a counsellor and hypnotherapist dedicated to providing a warm, safe, and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported.
I know that taking the first step towards counselling can feel incredibly difficult. Reaching out for help often takes courage, especially when you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure where to turn. I understand this not only through my work as a therapist but from my own personal experience. During a very difficult time in my life, I sought counselling myself, and I experienced first-hand the difference that a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship can make. It gave me the space to make sense of my thoughts and feelings, feel genuinely heard, and begin to move forward. That experience continues to shape the way I work with every client I meet.
I believe everyone deserves a place where they can explore their thoughts, feelings, and emotions without fear of judgement. My aim is to offer a calm, compassionate environment where you can be yourself, speak openly, and feel accepted exactly as you are.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent 17 years as a secondary school teacher and Head of Department. Throughout my teaching career, I supported young people with a wide range of emotional and educational needs, including those who are neurodivergent. These experiences deepened my understanding of how differently we all experience the world and continue to influence my inclusive, empathetic, and person-centred approach.
I am also an RNIB-accredited Sight Loss Counsellor, supporting people living with visual impairment or sight loss, as well as those adjusting to changes in health, independence, or identity. I understand that these life changes can bring uncertainty, grief, and complex emotions, and I offer a compassionate space where these can be explored safely and at your own pace.

Whether you're experiencing anxiety, stress, burnout, low self-esteem, addiction, bereavement, relationship difficulties, or navigating a significant life change, you don't have to face it alone. Together, we'll work at a pace that feels right for you, helping you gain greater understanding, reconnect with your strengths, and find a way forward.
Whatever has brought you here today, thank you for taking the time to look. If you're ready to begin, I'd be honoured to walk alongside you on your journey.

Starting counselling can feel like a big step, and it’s natural to feel unsure about what to expect. My role is to provide a safe, confidential and supportive environment where you can talk openly about what is on your mind.
In our sessions, you are at the centre of the process. We will work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you, exploring your experiences, thoughts and emotions in a way that feels supportive and manageable.
Counselling is not about being judged or told what to do. Instead, it is an opportunity to reflect, gain insight and develop a deeper understanding of yourself and the challenges you may be facing.
Sessions are available online, by telephone, or in person, allowing you to access support in the way that feels most comfortable for you.
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, but it can also be the beginning of positive change.
If you feel that counselling may be helpful for you, I welcome you to get in touch to arrange an initial session. This first session gives us the opportunity to talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from the process.
It is also a chance for you to see whether you feel comfortable working with me, as a strong and trusting relationship is an important part of effective counselling.
You do not have to face things alone. If you would like to take the first step, please contact me to arrange a session or to ask any questions you may have.
I am based in Sheffield, S10 2GB at The Practice Rooms and currently Face to Face, online and telephone sessions.
Along with reaching clients in Sheffield, my practice is easily accessible from the surrounding areas of Doncaster, Barnsley, Rotherham and greater South Yorkshire.
I offer a free discovery call of up to 20 minutes, by telephone or online. This is a relaxed opportunity to ask questions, talk about your needs, and see if my approach feels right for you before booking a session.
Individual Sessions – Online or by telephone: £65 for 50 minutes. Each session is a safe, supportive space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.
A cancellation policy applies to all sessions.
To book a session or find out more, please call or email me. I’m happy to answer any questions and support you in taking the first step.

If you’re curious about counselling or hypnotherapy, or would like to arrange your first session, I’d be happy to hear from you. This gives us the opportunity to talk about the challenges you’re facing and see if I’m the right therapist to support you.
You’re also welcome to call me on 0114 6972972 if you’d prefer to leave a message or have a quick chat beforehand. I’m happy to answer any questions or discuss any concerns you may have before arranging your first session.
